Briar Hill Designs was born out of a beautiful
friendship between two self-proclaimed fabric lovers,
Caverly Smith and Julia Wentzell.
Caverly Smith brings her fine art background to the
team having earned her Bachelor's Degree in Illustra-
tion from Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada. Her
speciality includes oil painting with palette knife
techniques, watercolour, line-and-wash, and whimsical
illustration, showcased in the 'Strawberry Season'
collection.
Julia Wentzell is a lifelong sewing enthusiast with
over 25 years of experience. Julia earned her diploma
in Costume Studies from Dalhousie University in
Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where she honed her
skills in pattern making, fashion apparel, tailoring and
18th century apparel construction. After trying her
hand at quilt making, Julia was hooked, and was soon
sewing quilts of her own design and style, creating a
fresh take on traditional patchwork.
