Music always seemed to be part of Grandpa's life. In high school, he played
the trumpet and the French horn. Grandpa served in the Navy from 1933-
1937 and again from 1940-1945. While in the Navy, he felt very fortunate to
be part of the band. In later years, he participated in his church choir, bell
choir, a barbershop quartet, and the Silver Singers. Grandma played the
organ and they sang together. They also had a player piano that my
brother, cousins and I spent hours playing and singing along. I'm
happy to say that piano now lives in my basement!
